Thrivent gifts do a lot at SBC
Thrivent is a financial services organization with Lutheran roots, formed in 2002 with the merger of Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) and Lutheran Brotherhood (LB), which had been established in 1902 and 1917, respectively. Thrivent has been named on the list of “The World’s Most Ethical Companies” many times and has philanthropy as a core value, helping its members make a difference through volunteering and donating funds.
Thrivent clients with membership have unique opportunities to help SBC in carrying out its ministry! Consider making a personal donation through the Thrivent site (Thrivent will pay processing fees), leading a Thrivent Action Team or directing Thrivent Choice Dollars® to SBC. Project Ideas:
Plant Trees - Use the $250 community impact card to purchase young shade trees and organize a crew to help plant them around our site.
Plan a Camp Scholarship Fundraiser - Help get kids to camp by throwing a camp scholarship fundraiser in your church or community. Assemble a team of volunteers to help bake cookies, cinnamon rolls, or other goodies that could be auctioned off to provide scholarship funds.
Picnic Tables and Benches - Use your grant to purchase the materials and organize a crew to help you put them together.
How it works!
Thrivent members are able to apply for two ($250) Action Team grants per year. If you are a Thrivent member, contact us about potential projects before applying for a grant with Thrivent. (See list of a few project ideas.) Apply for you Action Teams Kit at Thrivent.com. Once your project is approved, you'll receive a Thrivent Action Kit, including:
Promotional banner
Invitations and thank-you cards
Thrivent Action Team T-shirts
A $250 Community Impact Card you can use as seed money to purchase project supplies and create promotional materials
When your kit arrives, let us know and we can coordinate a time for you and your crew to complete your Action Team project!
Thrivent Choice®
Thrivent clients with membership can contribute to organizations and causes they care about—and influence how Thrivent distributes some of its charitable grant funding through Choice Dollars®.
Designate your Thrivent Choice Dollars® today!
Call 800-847-4836 and when prompted, say “Thrivent Choice.”
Press 1 to direct Choice Dollars
You will be asked for your phone number and date of birth.
When asked, tell them you want your Thrivent Direct Choice Dollars to go to Upper Missouri Ministries.
How it works!
You can make a personal donation to a favorite enrolled organization (like SBC!) —Thrivent pays the processing fees so that 100% of your gift goes to support your chosen nonprofit. Eligible clients with membership can also direct Thrivent Choice Dollars to SBC, helping direct where Thrivent distributes a portion of its funding each year. Your eligibility is based on insurance premiums and contract values.
The deadline to designate Choice Dollars each year is March 31 of the following year. If you are eligible to direct Choice Dollars, you can direct them right now. If you are uncertain about your eligibility, visit Thrivent.com/thriventchoice, or contact your local Thrivent Financial representative.
