CAMP UPDATE

Apr 13, 2020
"Be Still and Know."

A s a Christian ministry our first focus is on Christ alone.  In this time of many unknowns we are trying to focus on the unchanging God and life in Christ Jesus.  The UMM Board of Directors is in conversation with local health departments, parents, donors, and staff.  Timelines for key decisions will be set up in the next 7-10 days.

We are using our Mission and Core Values as the boundaries for our focus in discussing the reality of summer camp, retreats, and camp uses for the next months ahead.

Mission Statement:

Sparking Faith In Christ Jesus Through Time In Creation & Community

The following are the Core Values of Upper Missouri Ministries.

This is a Christ-centered outdoor ministry.  Our foundation is based on a long-standing heritage that all are justified by Grace through Faith in Christ Jesus.  We respectfully receive all of God’s children into a welcoming faith-led, spirit filled experience.

Local Lutheran congregations established this  ministry in 1943.  Currently, 44 Lutheran member  congregations make up this organization.  Our ministry is committed to offering Christ-centered experiences.  We are grateful for the individual and congregational relationships of ownership and commitment that is expressed through service and responsibility.

This ministry understands and embraces the responsibility of offering Christ-centered experiences to all.  UMM is dedicated to providing an atmosphere of emotional, physical and spiritual safety for those we serve.

Our Christ-centered focus forms our commitment to provide quality and flexible programs that offer opportunities to stretch and enhance the faith and lives of all involved.  We believe these core values allow us to develop Christ-centered disciples of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

UMM STORY

Upper Missouri Ministries is located on 203 acres on the shores of Springbrook Dam. The shore line surrounds most of the camp site, which is on a peninsula nestled in the coulee bottom.

This is a perfect setting for kids and families to experience the Love and Grace of Jesus through time in creation and community that allows faith in Christ Jesus to be sparked.

Children (of all ages) are in need of a place to slow down and reconnect with nature and other people. And we all need to reconnect with the Love and Grace of God found in Jesus. Time at Camp UMM provides experiences in services, worship, study, and quiet time. Campers return to their homes, families, and communities with faith in Christ Jesus that is sparked and with tools that will allow them to weather the storms of life.
